"The Bees" is an interactive performance-lecture for families (ages 5 and up) that uses theatrical elements to explore the latest scientific discoveries about bees, the structure of their society, and how it functions. Impressed by the unique characteristics of this species, the interdisciplinary team focuses on social roles within the hive, successful strategies for harmonious coexistence, the causes of the decline in bee populations, and their role in ecosystems.

For BEES, the organization “36 Monkeys” is working with a team of scientists and artists to create an informative, interactive, entertaining, and memorable experience for the audience.

Since 2008, this has been the theater organization’s fifth project in the field of science theater and the fourth joint project by researcher Antonia Hubancheva and director Gergana Dimitrova.

This project was carried out with financial support from the Ministry of Culture and in partnership with the Beautiful Science Foundation.

Part of the project “Creation of New Cultural Products in an Urban Environment – Presentations in Sofia (the ‘Nine Elephants’ Festival) and Berlin (C*Space)”, funded under Component 11 “Social Inclusion”, Investment 6 “Development of the Cultural and Creative Sectors”, Procedure BG-RRP-11.020, Grant Scheme “Creation of Bulgarian productions and co-productions in the CCI sector and their promotion on European and international arts markets” under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
