The third project presents performance readings of contemporary Romanian dramaturgy, situated in non-theatrical spaces.

The third edition of “ProText” borrows its name from its Romanian partner – the organization „dramAcum”, thus underlining its main purpose – to provoke the creation and popularization of contemporary texts for theatre in Bulgaria.
About the play “After Tomorrow Before Yesterday”: by Gianina Carbunariu
Gianina Carbunariu has made her name as one of the most popular authors in young Romanian theatre. She is one of the creative forces behind the dramAcum project (2001), stimulating the discovery of new authors and dramaturgy writing techniques. Her texts focus on the conflicts and the paradoxes in today’s society and are oriented towards” the 25 – 30-year-olds generation”. The characters in the play “After Tomorrow Before Yesterday” live in an environment where today’s petty problems have grown to be an absurd daily round and their memories sound like this:
“This was a parallelepiped-shaped object, to which thin cables were attached, ending in small balls that you plugged into your ears. It was one of the most important accessories of our century. We all wanted to be surrounded by our favorite sounds, rhythms, melodies and words. Nothing could destroy our pleasure, not even the fact that the Chinese workers who put together the first models, earned only 50 dollars a month and worked 15 hours a day. We called it an iPod.”
Other Romanian plays, translated for the needs of “ProText: DRAMA NOW”: “Manuscript Woman” by Lia Bugnar, “Sugarless” by Nicoletta Esinencu and “Sunshine Play” by Peca Stefan. Translated by Ivan Radev and Lora Nenkovska. In 2010 these four titles were published in a collection by “Panorama Plus” Publishing House.
